Keep your local Metal Scene Alive – Oxford Round Up November

Greetings Minions Readers, Suzi here!

What is happening, I hear you cry, in that city of the dreaming spires? Well chaps, this month looks like an absolute blast. It’s half term next week and so down at The Wheatsheaf on Tuesday 29th the Oxford RockSoc is very kindly giving us an evening of Annero, Hot Magenta and Don’t Go Plastic. Yes folks for the grand sum of FIVE of your British pounds you can have an entire evening of Heavy Metal, Hard Rock and some Garage Punk. Not a bad deal really is it?

After that, you’ve got the almighty SANCTUM- Oxford’s one and only ‘proper’ metal night on Friday 1st November- It’s the Halloween edition this month (look out for the Zombie Bride with bright pink hair, that’s me!).  Entry is £2 before 10, and there are some great drinks deals. More excitedly though, they’ll be showing an exclusive premiere of the new video from Prospekt whose debut album was released this week- watch out for our review of that on the Wyrd Ways Review! They are launching the album on the 15th November- make sure you are there!

Also coming up in November, you’ve got American Head Charge playing at The Bullingdon, Breed 77 are playing the O2 Academy and at £10 for an advance ticket with 4 support acts as well, you’re a fool if you don’t immediately rush to get one!

36 Crazyfists land in the city of hobbits on the 2nd November. They’re again playing the O2 Academy and tickets cost £14.00.

Local bands to watch out for- I’ve been taking tips from my trusty disciples  friends, and they inform me that apart from the aforementioned Annero and Prospekt you should all immediately go and listen to Desert Storm, grind specialists Black Skies Burn who are playing at The Wheatsheaf on November 3rd and my last recommendation for this month is DEDLOK. Dedlok are the daddies of the Oxford metal scene, THRASH all the way through and I have it on good authority that they are currently recording their debut album.

So there you go- hit us with your local band recommendations in the comments, along with links to anything you think we should be reviewing and remember- KEEP YOUR LOCAL METAL SCENE ALIVE!!
