Sahg – 7th November, 2013

Rick: What is a SAHG?

Sahg: Sahg is a Norwegian band based in Bergen, Norway, playing heavy metal for the people. No more, no less!

R: Are you currently touring and if so with who?

S:  We are not touring at the moment. We are working on it as we speak, and will be a lot on the road during 2014.

R:  Can you explain the significance of the album cover for Delusions of Grandeur?

S: The album cover saying a lot about the story we are telling on the album. The psychedelic, cosmic aesthetics are a metaphor of a delusional state of mind, where you imagine being in parallell universe of your own design. I think it visualizes the concept well. The symbols and colours give you a good idea about the vibe on the album.

R:  What would be your fantasy gig/tour, recording partner/special guest wish list?

S:Wish list, right? We have no particular wish list. Of course, it would have been fun playing with bands like Judas Priest, Kiss and Black Sabbath, but we really don’t care. Just as long as it’s good people, and we all connect, and we bring a good show to our audience, it fulfills our needs.

R:  Long hair or short hair (which is better and why)?

S: Doesn’t matter. In Sahg we are 50/50, and it works well. But of course, the smell of shampoo from the first row of headbangers on a gig is always special.

R:  Who are you trying to impress? (i.e., parental units, girls, peers, etc.)

S: Ourselves. And some buddys. No really. It is ourselves we are challenging. We are our own worst critics, and we impress each other when we succeed.

R:  Anybody in the band married with kids? Siblings?

S: Yeah. Two of us are married. The rest of us have long time girlfriends. We have a total of 4 kids in the band, so the next Sahg line-up is secured.

R:  Dream gig, sorta like questions #4 but include venue, warm-up bands/support, etc

S: Hammersmith Odeon with Motorhead as a warm up. Or Cobo Hall headlining Kiss, maybe?

R: If you could pick a year in recent history in which to live, what year would it be?

S: 2013. I live in the here and now.

R:  What’s next for SAHG?

S: Getting out on the road and start writing for the next album. We intend to stay busy in the future, and touring and writing new music are our favorite things to do.

R:  Live albums – good or bad and why?

S: I can only think of good ones. Kiss – Alive!, Thin Lizzy – Live and Dangerous, Iron Maiden – Live After Death …
Can’t really remember any bad ones. Guess they are repressed from my mind. I probably didn’t hear them through.

R:  What would be your Desert island album (cd/vinyl/cassette), book, movie?

S: Screaming for Vengeance by Judas Priest, as many novels as I could possibly bring, that I have not read before. Guess I probably will prefer books to albums and movies, because from what I hear there are rarely electricity on desert islands.

R:  What would your mum say?

S: “Careful with the hard liquor.”

R:  What would you be doing if you weren’t doing this? (If you couldn’t be in SAHG)

S: Hopefully do the same thing in another band, but probably focusing on my 9-5 job.

R:  What is the meaning of life?

S: To live. And Enjoy every minute …
