Resurgent NWoAHM band, American Head Charge have joined the increasing number of established bands eschewing record companies and taking their music straight to the fans via crowdfunding. Spearheaded by Ginger Wildheart, whose 555% project set new records by reaching it’s 100% funded status in a matter of hours, this way of putting together the money to record and distribute an album seems to be gaining ground as big traditional record companies seem to be unwilling to put money into developing artists, and smaller companies are understandably less able to take risks.
A statement from the band on their Indiegogo campaign page states:
Our fans have made us what we are today, and we want to involve you in a much deeper way than ever before. We have been face to face with many of you, and a large number of you have been to over 50 shows; we have become family. We’d like you to have the opportunity to be a part of this process, and to help make this record happen. Without you, we are nothing. We are counting on you to help facilitate creating a new American Head Charge record. Let’s do this!
