AltFest Cancelled

Following further information, including the word from the likes of Bull Riff Stampede, that AltFest, due to run at Boughton Estate, Kettering between 15th and 17th of August has been cancelled.  The festival, which was to feature such diverse acts as Gary Numan, Satyricon, Marilyn Manson, Cold In Berlin, Arch Enemy, Deviant UK, Professor Elemental and Rotersand, looked like it was lining up to be one of the biggest of the summer.

Simon Hall, vocalist of Beholder and one of the organisers of Bloodstock Open Air broke the news on his Facebook page earlier this afternoon:

So it appears Altfest has been cancelled.

It started with a pledge scheme as fans entrusted in a unique concept and ended with media scrambling over themselves to be involved, bands not being advanced and being drip fed bullshit for months and fans being dumped on at the last minute. Something that I personally had visions of months ago.

For me and Beholder we were open to this whole thing and initially extremely excited about headlining the Sophie Lancaster stage, but to be honest with the way this has developed (or not as the case may be) it leaves me hollow to think so many fans, traders and support staff will end up losing out.

If honest its shit!

It has also come to the attention of The Wyrd Ways Rock Show News team that some of the smaller bands on the bill have been told about the cancellation.  Originally it looked like the events on The Sophie Lancaster Stage had been cancelled, but later information received, such as Marilyn Manson removing AltFest from his upcoming events seems to indicate that the entire event is off.
