Huntress vocalist saves Amon Amarth's Plymouth gig

Jill Janus Stands In For Johan Hegg

The Deceiver Of The Gods tour, featuring Amon Amarth, Huntress and Savage Messiah is up and running, hitting The Thelka in Bristol. A few days ago, Dave Silver (vocals and guitar in opening act and rising stars Savage Messiah) said:

“The tour is finally upon us!  And we’re really psyched to take the metal to the stage once more.  A great way to start the year and hopefully the start of many more tours to come in 2015.  If you come out to any of the shows, make sure to head over to the merch stand and say hi to the band; we’ll be hanging there most nights post-show, so don’t be a stranger!  And we’ll see you down the front!”

Possibly naming your tour after the trickster himself, Loki Laufeyson, might not be as good an idea as first thought. On three dates into the tour, Amon Amarth vocalist, Johan Hegg’s voice let him down in Plymouth. Luckily (and giving the finger to a certain Norse fire god), Huntress singer Jill Janus turned out to be up for a challenge, stepping into the Swedish man-mountain’s sizeable boots:

Tonight Johan Hegg couldn’t perform with Amon Amarth…he lost his viking voice. So I just strapped on his in ear pack & threw down Guardians of Asgaard! MY MIND IS BLOWN! I’ll be on stage with the boys ’til the end of their set, next we’re bringing up 2 fans to sing with the band! Do you have the Swedish meat balls to do it?! The show must go on!!!

Here is the first footage to emerge from the show:
