Who’s going to be playing near you?

Leps go digital (at last)

On 19th January 2018 around the world, Def Leppard debuted their full recording catalogue worldwide via various digital services, including Google Play Music (which means you can get it on your Google Home speakers and Chromecast Audio… which is nice), Soundcloud, Deezer, Spotify, iTunes and Apple Music.  One of the last multi-platinum selling acts to be made available on streaming and download platforms, music fans from all corners of the globe can now enjoy tracks and albums from Def Leppard who have sold more than 100 million albums worldwide to become one of rock’s most enduring and influential bands.

Said Joe Elliott, “It is with a mixture of relief & euphoria that we now see our entire catalogue finally getting a digital release. Having embraced every other format with open arms, especially & more recently the re-emergence of vinyl, we’re now going to be available to everyone everywhere and honestly, it’s as exciting as the original releases were.”

Phil Collen adds, “We felt we’d been left out of the digital party, but it’s a thrill for us to finally accept the invitation and to be able to say “Yeah, you can stream us, download us and hear us on all digital outlets”.

As one of Britian’s biggest-ever bands and one of the NWOBHM’s greatest success stories, Def Leppard’s substantial career includes numerous hit singles including their first early chart hit Wasted — to their radio and MTV staples Bringin’ On The Heartbreak, Photograph, Rock of Ages, Too Late, Animal, Armageddon It, Love Bites, Rocket and Let’s Get Rocked. Their multi-platinum albums—including two of the best-selling albums of all time with sales of more than 10 million copies each in the U.S. alone Pyromania and Hysteria, captured some of the group’s legendary tracks, bringing together classic Leppard hits such as Pour Some Sugar on Me, Hysteria and Foolin’.  The group continued their success expanding into the world of film, covers, and new collaborations including Two Steps Behind from Last Action Hero, No Matter What, Waterloo Sunset, and Nine Lives with Tim McGraw as well as Def Leppard hits When Love and Hate Collide, Slang, Work It Out, Promises and Now.  Finally, all of Def Leppard’s music is available to everyone, around the world from the band’s eponymous debut EP through to their most recent album.

Late 2018 will see the band deliver what many UK and Eire fans have been waiting for – the Hysteria album performed in full across eleven arena dates in December 2018

Rick “Sav” Savage says, “After many requests from fans in the U.K, I’m delighted that we can bring the whole Hysteria album to arenas across Britain and Ireland later this year. From Women to Love and Affection plus many other faves thrown in for good measure. Oh, and our old pals Cheap Trick will be there also to help with the celebrations!! We can’t wait’.

They will return to Sheffield Arena for what is sure to be a monumental homecoming show, in addition to their first ever show at The O2, London. 2018 also marks the 35th anniversary of Hysteria’s predecessor Pyromania.

More info on Beloved Antichrist will be revealed soon.

Christofer Johnsson founded Therion as a Death Metal band in 1987. In the same year, this new band recorded demos and the mini LP Time Shall Tell. Four years later in 1991, their debut record Of Darkness… was a huge success within the underground metal scene. Over the years since, the bands’ style has developed in a rather unique way, and they have released some ground-breaking records.

Following line-up changes that left Christofer as the only original member, Therion released their breakthrough album, Theli in 1996, which would be the ultimate breakthrough record for the band. At this stage in their career Therion turned towards a more operatic, progressive and even orchestral sound. 1998’s Vovin, was their bestselling record to date and the development of their sound reached a new peak, as for the first time, the band worked with a real symphonic orchestra. Christofer (with the help of a few studio musicians) recorded the album by himself and more or less considers Vovin as a solo record. 2001’s Secret Of The Runes was their first concept album, based around Nordic myths and Scandinavian Folk music.

Hailed by the Radio 1 Rock Show as ‘Awesome’, platinum selling rock outfit I Am Giant have bounced back into the UK music scene with stadium ready single Playing With Fire and a UK tour announcement.

The band have recently returned from a two year hiatus and have announced a line up shift consisting of their long time band member Aja Timu now fronting the band. Their 3rd studio album is due out in late 2017.

Earlier this year I Am Giant debuted a new single called Dead Flower, which reached No 2 on the Spotify NZ Heatseakers Chart, was playlisted on a range of international Spotify Rock playlists including Rock Out, Rock This and Spotify Italy Novita Stadium Rock, as well as garnering airplay on The Rock and Bayrock.

I Am Giant are kicking off the second half of 2017 with their explosive new single Playing With Fire. The confessional lyrics and soaring vocals mused with hypnotic guitar work create a song that will reestablish what I Am Giant have always been about; making memorable and soul-stirring music.

Paul Matthews says this about the track.
‘Playing with Fire is about just saying fuck it and not worrying about what others think of how you choose to live your one and only life’.

The accompanying video was shot by Adam Jones at Homegrown Festival earlier this year.

‘Playing live is our passion, and for years we have toured non-stop around the world. But nothing really compares to the Homegrown Festival crowd. We wanted to capture that with this video and thank all our NZ fans, especially the I Am Giant Army, for their constant support’ says Shelton Woolright.

The Darkness unleash new video

Suffolk scallywags, The Darkness have released the tongue-in-cheek video (tongue-in-cheek?  The Darkness?  There’s a surprise! – Sarcastic Ed) for their brand new single All The Pretty Girls, out now through Cooking Vinyl.

Justin Hawkins proclaims:

“Dear People of the Internet. We have made this excellent video to distract you from the humdrum banality of existence. By looking at film of The Darkness preening and cavorting, you will be transported to an unattainable world of awesomeness. Furthermore, we recommend that you purchase our new record album, for which the above video serves as an amuse-bouche. Enjoy!”

The video finds the band performing All The Pretty Girls along the beautifully overcast Cornish shoreline. They embrace the typical British summer by playing tennis, going on a band banana boat ride, travelling on a tractor and even attempting guitar solos while surfing, amongst other suitably seaside japes.

All The Pretty Girls was released last month to great acclaim and all round fabulous excitement, heralding their magnificent new album, entitled Pinewood Smile, which is released on October 6th. The single is available on all streaming platforms and also available for download with pre-orders of the album for the instant gratification of fans.  Click here for details:

The album is also the first to feature the drumming and vocal talents of new band member Rufus Tiger Taylor, son of Queen legend Roger Taylor, who shares vocal duties with Justin on two of the tracks, and gets roundly pelted with tennis balls in the video… as is only right and proper for the new boy!

To celebrate the release of Pinewood Smile, The Darkness will be touring extensively at the end of this year playing 17 dates in the UK throughout November and December including headline shows at Leeds’ O2 Academy on 27th November and London’s Hammersmith Eventim Apollo on 10th December (see dates below).
