It’s time for another edition of The Wyrd Ways Rock Show, you lucky people!
This week’s show is something of an experiment – I didn’t write a script and the only editing I did was to cut the length of some of the pauses in my speech patterns. Other than that, this is pretty much “as live”.
Sorry to say you’ll hear my personal stream of consciousness as I recorded the show.
Musically, it’s a real mix. There’s Classic Metal, Nu-Nu Metal, Melodic Death Metal and Power Metal, plus a few others. Pretty much something for everyone. So long as you like a bit of Metal in your musical diet.
So what are you waiting for? You know the drill. Download and turn it up!
Here we go with the first proper show for 2018.
As usual, as you’ve come to expect since I started this whole thing back in 2008 (yes, it has been nearly 10 years!), you’ll be treated to a grab-bag of the best up-and-coming Hard Rock and Metal alongside the best of what’s out there already.
Since it looks like the usual Christmas/New Year release drought has come to an end, what have we got for you?
If you scroll down and take a look at the track list, it’s all there, but here are the edited highlights: New stuff from Judas Priest, Korn’s Jonathon Davis, Black Moth and the mighty Monster Magnet.
Also, since the last surviving member of the Motorhead line-up that recorded the likes of Ace Of Spades, Bomber, Overkill, Iron Fist, No Sleep Til Hammersmith and others, has passed away at 67, we’ll be paying tribute to the legend who was Fast Eddie Clarke.
Turn it up and praise the loud!

It’s time for another Wyrd Ways Rock Show, you lucky people!
This week, that means new stuff from Saxon, Frozen Crown, Blaze Bayley and Ektomorf amongst a whole load of others. You’re also getting a little something from a side project merging Mastodon and Tool as well as three bands you’ve probably never heard of in Shock Of The New and an old Hawkwind track getting a going over.
So turn the volume all the way up, crack open a beverage of your choice and enjoy just over 2 hours of the finest Metal this side of anywhere.
It’s finally here. The show you’ve been waiting for.
Eighty-one (couldn’t resist putting in the Electric Wizard track, even though I did say I was going to limit it to 80) songs covering a plethora of sub-genres including Death, Black, Pirate, Thrash and Proper Heavy Metal.
There’s an enormous amount of excellent music here.
The most interesting segment, though, is the one that a loud minority seem to think doesn’t exist: Good new bands, in which you will find contributions from Skarlett Riot, Warbringer, Dorja and a good many others from around the world.
Since (if you’ve listened to the show, you’ll know) I didn’t back announce the tracks for this show, here’s the full playlist, including the albums each track is taken from:

It’s the last Wyrd Ways Rock Show of 2017… or certainly the last one before the traditional Yuletide Behemoth, anyway. Despite the fact that this is, effective a Christmas show, I’ll only inflict one Christmas tune on you.
It’s one you’ll like. I promise.
What else do we have for you?
Well, the last Record Of The Week is a bit of a cracker, then there’s loads of other stuff, including Nick from Nuclear Blast having a bit of a chinwag with Robb Flynn of Machine Head.
Who says I never get you anything nice?
What are you waiting for? Press Play and turn it up LOUD!
So here we are spinning rapidly towards the end of another year. 2017 is almost over, but The Wyrd Ways Rock Show is celebrating the dying embers of this year with another slab of quality Metal.
Not only do we have new stuff from such luminaries as Machine Head, Electric Wizard and Almanac, we’ve got Skarlett Riot snapping up Record Of The Week with a serious slab of quality called Regenerate and a celebration of His Infernal Majesty himself, Ville Valo, as he hangs up his mascara and puts H.I.M to bed for the last time.
Loads of other good stuff too.

I will admit that I did have moments of doubting that this edition of The Wyrd Ways Rock Show would ever see the light of day. The inspiration for getting it finished and uploaded was, at least in part, Primordial Radio. It was their launch party in York on 30th September. Going to that event (before crippling social anxiety meant we left early) reminded me why I do this.
Rock and Metal is hideously poorly served by the mass media. The stereotypical image of us is that of a knuckle-dragging Neanderthal. We all know that nothing could be further from the truth, but why let the truth get in the way of a good stereotype?
Anyway, I’ve been letting the show slip for a while. Tracking back, it probably goes back to when my level of medication was increased. I’m experimenting with dropping it and I seem to have retrieved a little of my drive to do things.
I know this probably should have been a blog post, but you who take the time to listen to the show deserve to know what’s going on and why I’ve been so bloody useless at getting these things done over the last couple of years.
What are you waiting for? There’s the download link for you to click on, by the picture!
Incidentally, you can also stream us on Mixcloud and the TuneIn radio app. Just go to their homepages and search for The Wyrd Ways Rock Show. Same applies if you want to follow us on Facebook, Reverbnation, Twitter or Instagram.
I know, I know… another long gap.
But the best laid plans, and so on…
Anyway. Loads of new stuff, as usual, as well as a Cover version and some not new stuff.
Shall we get on with it?

Been a while, hasn’t it? To be brutally honest, I’ve just not been in the mood recently. Better no show than a shoddy one, I think. I’d rather not put out a show at all rather than a poorly made one with no feeling to it.
Since the last show, we’ve lost Chris Cornell to depression. So that’s who this show is dedicated to: the memory of the voice of Soundgarden and Audioslave and anyone currently fighting depression.
