Wyrd Ways Rock Show 24th December 2017

It’s the last Wyrd Ways Rock Show of 2017… or certainly the last one before the traditional Yuletide Behemoth, anyway. Despite the fact that this is, effective a Christmas show, I’ll only inflict one Christmas tune on you.

It’s one you’ll like.  I promise.

What else do we have for you?

Well, the last Record Of The Week is a bit of a cracker, then there’s loads of other stuff, including Nick from Nuclear Blast having a bit of a chinwag with Robb Flynn of Machine Head.

Who says I never get you anything nice?

What are you waiting for?  Press Play and turn it up LOUD!

The next show is coming… be ready!

OK sentients, since I’ve done the recording for the current show, and intend to get it published tomorrow, I’m now taking requests for the #freespinwhatever portion of the next edition of The Wyrd Ways Rock Show.   Might even be tempted to make it a bit Christmassy.

Oh yeah… I’ll also be starting to build the infamous, traditional Yuletide Behemoth, which covers the albums released during this year. The longest one I ever made topped 7 hours.

Suggest a track by clicking on THIS LINK or via the contact form, Facebook or Twitter, and I’ll trade you a shoutout – the only proviso is it’s got to be a song from an album that was released in 2017

Formed in 2015, Anarchaeon features vocalist Kaija Kinney, founder of Metalocalypstick Fest, the Canadian metal festival that celebrates women in metal, along with guitarist Clayton Bach, bassist Sylvain Maltais and drummer Steve “Machine” Richardo (ex-Messiah, ex-Green Jellÿ). With a band name playing off the word Anarchy, Anarchaeon are more of a Frankenstein of their various influences with their powerhouse of screams, catchy riffs and energetic heavy bass leads.

The quartet recently unleashed their new EP, Stratusfear last month.

Their first music video Etherous Claws directed by Markham Samuels and produced by Whitelf  Films, tells the story of Anarchaeon using the power of heavy metal to summon an ancient vampire from her slumber.

“This is our first music video so of course we are super stoked about it. We wanted to have a bit of a back story on the song in a more poetic way rather than literal. Our good friend with Whitelf Films did an amazing job getting our vision onto screen and looking sharp!  And for those checking out our EP, it’s basically a coming together of all four members. We had so much fun writing these songs. All four of us have very different music tastes so it was very interesting coming together with such chemistry and creating something that we were all stoked about. We are already gearing up for a full album!”

Stefan Thanneur understood the vision I had for Out Of The Voiceless Grave straight away.  He has portrayed the exact same nightmare vortex of interstellar death and terror that I envisioned when I wrote the lyrics and came up with the concept.  Pure cosmic evil.  Even more twisted madness than my imagination could portray.  I have been very happy to work with yet another great talent.  You can never get enough tentacles.”

New SIGIL Album: Kingdom of the Grave

Described as ‘Crusty Death Metal’ by their publicist, Sigil hail from Austin, Texas but carry the influence of Swedish Death Metal with them. The band has teamed up with metal community and social network Skullsnbones.com to release their debut album, Kingdom of the Grave.

Old School Faith

Sigil successfully wraps classic death metal in an American crust, resulting in catchy, crushing chaos. Keeping true to the old school faith, their debut album Kingdom Of The Grave is unrelenting in its death metal attack, which also incorporates raw D-beat aggression complimented by slashing solo’s and throat-ripping vocals. For fans of Black Breath, Carnage, Dismember, Entombed, Entrails, Fatalist, Fleshcrawl, Gatecreeper, Grave, His Hero Is Gone, Nihilist and Tragedy.

Vocalist/guitarist Alex Citrone comments on the album:

“Kingdom of the Grave” is pure, raw death metal with an explosive energy to it. It has themes of the occult, suicide, police brutality and a dystopian future. Fans of the old and new school will find something to love.”
