Wyrd Ways Rock Show 24th December 2017

It’s the last Wyrd Ways Rock Show of 2017… or certainly the last one before the traditional Yuletide Behemoth, anyway. Despite the fact that this is, effective a Christmas show, I’ll only inflict one Christmas tune on you.

It’s one you’ll like.  I promise.

What else do we have for you?

Well, the last Record Of The Week is a bit of a cracker, then there’s loads of other stuff, including Nick from Nuclear Blast having a bit of a chinwag with Robb Flynn of Machine Head.

Who says I never get you anything nice?

What are you waiting for?  Press Play and turn it up LOUD!

Wyrd Ways Rock Show 13th December 2017

The countdown to Christmas now begins in earnest. Just to show I’m not a total Scrooge, I’ve included the full sweary version of Lawnmower Deth‘s collaboration with Kim Wilde (yes, THAT Kim Wilde… she of Kids In America back in the 80’s, who went on to do gardening shows for the BBC).

There’s also a fond farewell to Triaxis, new stuff from all over the place and… well… I’m not going to tell you who gets Record Of The Week. You’ll just have to listen to the show when you’ve finished downloading it, or it arrives in your Inbox (if you’re a Sponsor or on the mailing list).

Turn it all the way up!

The next show is coming… be ready!

OK sentients, since I’ve done the recording for the current show, and intend to get it published tomorrow, I’m now taking requests for the #freespinwhatever portion of the next edition of The Wyrd Ways Rock Show.   Might even be tempted to make it a bit Christmassy.

Oh yeah… I’ll also be starting to build the infamous, traditional Yuletide Behemoth, which covers the albums released during this year. The longest one I ever made topped 7 hours.

Suggest a track by clicking on THIS LINK or via the contact form, Facebook or Twitter, and I’ll trade you a shoutout – the only proviso is it’s got to be a song from an album that was released in 2017

I AM GIANT NEW SINGLE, UK DATES

Hailed by the Radio 1 Rock Show as ‘Awesome’, platinum selling rock outfit I Am Giant have bounced back into the UK music scene with stadium ready single Playing With Fire and a UK tour announcement.

The band have recently returned from a two year hiatus and have announced a line up shift consisting of their long time band member Aja Timu now fronting the band. Their 3rd studio album is due out in late 2017.

Earlier this year I Am Giant debuted a new single called Dead Flower, which reached No 2 on the Spotify NZ Heatseakers Chart, was playlisted on a range of international Spotify Rock playlists including Rock Out, Rock This and Spotify Italy Novita Stadium Rock, as well as garnering airplay on The Rock and Bayrock.

I Am Giant are kicking off the second half of 2017 with their explosive new single Playing With Fire. The confessional lyrics and soaring vocals mused with hypnotic guitar work create a song that will reestablish what I Am Giant have always been about; making memorable and soul-stirring music.

Paul Matthews says this about the track.
‘Playing with Fire is about just saying fuck it and not worrying about what others think of how you choose to live your one and only life’.

The accompanying video was shot by Adam Jones at Homegrown Festival earlier this year.

‘Playing live is our passion, and for years we have toured non-stop around the world. But nothing really compares to the Homegrown Festival crowd. We wanted to capture that with this video and thank all our NZ fans, especially the I Am Giant Army, for their constant support’ says Shelton Woolright.

I Am Giant will be touring with special guests New Volume on the following dates:

26 SEPT O2 Academy Islington – LONDON
27 SEPT Rebellion Manchester – MANCHESTER
28 SEPT Corporation – SHEFFIELD
29 SEPT The Cobblestones – BRIDGWATER

Anyway… this week’s Wyrd Ways Rock Show is a packed show yet again. Then again, isn’t it always? Rammed to the gunwhales with brand new music, including stuff from Alestorm, Iced Earth, Venom Inc, Helstar and Rex Brown.

Yes, THAT Rex Brown!

Not only that, but there’s also THREE tracks from the brand new album by the Italian Metal maestros, Arthemis.

Walpyrgus release video for Dead Girls

US hard rock/heavy metal warriors Walpyrgus have released the video for Dead Girls, the second single off the band’s forthcoming  album Walpyrgus Nights.

The video is based on the original art created by Scott Waldrop (Twisted Tower Dire) for the comic book that accompanies the vinyl edition of the album. The glossy-papered, 56-page comic book depicts the lyrics of the album and is intended as a bonus for the vinyl release.  Due to a print surplus, the comic book can also be purchased  together with the CD, but only while ordering directly from Cruz Del Sur Music webstore.

Featuring an all-star cast of Heavy Metal veterans, North Carolina’s Walpyrgus will release their full-length debut album June 9 on Cruz Del Sur Music. The album will be released on compact disc, vinyl  and digital formats.

Walpyrgus Nights represents the full realization of the potential of this dangerous meeting of Metal minds. Hook after hook, cascading guitar harmonies, anthemic soaring vocals, and epic unexpected twists and turns abound on this eight-song opus. It is a genuinely inspired, wild, fun ride through the annals of classic Hard Rock and early Metal with a distinct personality. The album, which features the artwork of Gustavo Sazes (Morbid Angel, Arch Enemy, Firewind), was recorded in a variety of locations over the course of two intense years under the guidance of Tom Phillips, mixed by longtime collaborator Kevin “131” Gutierrez (Raven, Deceased, Believer) and mastered by Bill Wolf (Raven, While Heaven Wept).

So when the when the stars are right and you’re alone, take a journey, lock the world tight and prepare yourself for the tales of demons, spectres and witches rising on Walpyrgus Nights!
